PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for inspections in a reactor which make it possible to remotely control the positions and postures of an inspection sensor that inspects the inside of the reactor and to easily carry out the adjustment and arrangement for the inspections. SOLUTION: The device includes an underwater vehicle 1 which travels in three-dimensional directions inside the reactor 61 stored with reactor water 60, the inspection sensor 2 which inspects the inside of the reactor 61 and acquires data, an inspection sensor drive device 3 which holds the sensor 2 against the vehicle 1 and actuates it, a vehicle control operation component 5a which is placed outside the reactor 61 to control the action of the vehicle 1, a component 5b for the controlling the operation for the inspection sensor drive device 3 which is placed outside the reactor 61 to control the action of the device 3 and an inspection sensor output signal processing component 6 which is placed outside the reactor 61 to input the output signals from the inspection sensor 2 corresponding to inspection data and process them.
