PURPOSE:To reduce the occurence of fogging of a silver halide photographic material and enhance the contrast and sensitivity thereof by allowing surface latent image type epitaxial mixed silver halide particles to adjoin internally fogged internal latent image type silver halide particles. CONSTITUTION:A surface latent image type emulsion is prepared using mixed silver halide particles contg. 5-75mol% of epitaxial silver halide particles formed by joining silver chloride, silver chlorobromide, silver iodobromide or silver chloroiodobromide to polyhedral crystals of silver iodide or 15-40mol% silver iodide- contg. silver salts. The crystal orientation of the silver chloride or the like has been controlled by the polyhedral crystals, and the silver iodide content of the epitaxial grown silver halide is 10mol% or less. This emulsion is mixed with an internally fogged internal latent image type emulsion prepared in another process, and the mixture is coated onto a support to manufacture a photoreceptor. The surface latent image type emulsion may be coated onto the internal latent image type emulsion coated onto the support. |
