PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a liner of a reactor containment vessel from being easily damaged even in cases where a severe accident is supposed in a nuclear reactor. SOLUTION: This reactor containment vessel for containing a reactor pressure vessel comprises a floor and side walls. The floor and at least a part of the side walls comprise a concrete part 14, the liner 15 made of metal and disposed inside the concrete part 14, a multitude of tiles 16 of high melting point material stuck to the inside of the liner 15, and a cooling tube 17 disposed within the concrete part 14 and structured so as to let a coolant flow therethrough. The material of the tiles 16 is tungsten, graphite, or ceramics. The coolant is water. A material for forming the cooling tube 17 is a thermally conductive material.
