PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a slub spun yarn rich in a design property and randomly developing slub without impairing single yarn strength by adjusting a tenser gage of a fine spinning frame without using a specific fine spinning apparatus or carrying out post processing in a production method of slub spun yarn using a short fiber. SOLUTION: The method for producing the slub spun yarn comprises spinning robing in which 10-50 wt.% short fiber having 28-45 mm average fiber length is mixed with 90-50 wt.% short fiber having 17-22 mm average fiber length while adjusting the tenser gage of the fine spinning frame to 3.5-6.5 mm.
