PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for determining resolution of a free radical in vivo by a direct method using an ESR unit. SOLUTION: In this method for determining the resolution of the free radical in vivo as to an added component added into an organism, by using the ESR unit, (1) a measuring component of a prescribed amount of determination component and an electron spin probe are added into a reference substance containing the prescribed concentration of free radical, and an absolute value a<SB>1</SB>of an inclination of a disappearance rate in vitro of the measuring component is measured using an X-band, L-band or both ESR units, (2) an experiment animal added with the corresponding electron spin probe in a measuring portion is set in the L-band ESR unit, and an absolute value b<SB>1</SB>of an inclination of a disappearance rate in vivo of the measuring component is measured using the L-band ESR unit, while adding the prescribed amount of the measuring component, and (3) the resolution of the free radical in vivo as to the measuring component is determined, based on the absolute value a<SB>1</SB>of the inclination of the disappearance rate in vitro of the electron spin probe of the measuring component measured in the step (1), and based on the absolute value b<SB>1</SB>of the inclination of the disappearance rate in vivo of the electron spin probe of the measuring component measured in the step (2).
