PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and sure inspection method of a porous brittle material. SOLUTION: This method is characterized as follows: a breaking test of a plurality of porous brittle materials having no initial defect is performed (S11); a database of the breakdown probability to a stress is thereby acquired as a sound article database (S12); a stress corresponding to a desired breakdown probability is acquired from the sound article database and used as an acceptable standard stress (S14); the acceptable standard stress is loaded to an inspection object comprising the porous brittle material (S15); and the inspection object is inspected by existence of breakage (S16).
