摘要 918,831. Eddy-current couplings. BOSCH G.m.b.H., ROBERT. Aug. 24, 1961 [Sept. 10, 1960], No. 30489/61. Class 35. [Also in Group XXVII] In an I.C. engine having fuel injection and separate ignition, a fuel delivery adjusting member 29, Fig. 1, is moved according to engine speed through a rotary magnetic clutch comprising a rotatable short-circuited armature 6 arranged in the field of a rotatable permanent magnet 4, one clutch part being engine-driven and the other clutch part being mechanically coupled to adjust the fuel delivery adjusting member according to the clutch-transmitted torque, the influence of the magnetic field of the permanent magnet upon the short-circuited armature being variable as a function of the position of the throttle 21. The permanent magnet 4 is driven from the fuel pump driving-shaft 2 in accordance with engine speed and tends to rotate the shortcircuited armature 6 until equilibrium is established between the torque produced by the magnet, the induced currents in the armature and the counteracting twist in torsion bar 14. Rota. tion of the armature sets the fuel delivery adjusting member 29 through pin 24, rod 25 and crank 26. When the intake pipe throttle 21 is opened, a directly connected cam-plate 19 displaces bush 9 and the assembly of the adjusting screw 15, torsion bar 14 and shaft 7 to create a bigger gap between the magnet and the armature, thus reducing the transmitted torque. The torsion bar can then rotate the armature to cause injection of a greater fuel quantity. An auxiliary cam-plate 20, acting through lever 36 and shaft 32 to displace the pivot 27 of crank 26, provides additional adjustment of the injected amount. An engine thermostat 40 acting through lever 38 on the pivot 37 of lever 36, provides a richer fuel/air mixture with a cold engine. Reduction of the transmitted torque caused by heating of the armature is compensated by bi-metal strips 46, Fig. 3, which when heated, displace the armature to reduce the gap. In another embodiment the armature is driven by the injection pump and revolves between two pairs of magnets which are mutually displaceable through 180 degrees, by a pin and oblique slot arrangement, to reduce transmitted torque. In a further embodiment torque is transmitted between a pump-driven armature and two horse-shoe magnets arranged on an axially displaceable carrier.
