MOTION PICTURE FALSE CONTOUR REDUCTION METHOD, MOTION PICTURE FALSE CONTOUR REDUCTION CIRCUIT, DISPLAY DEVICE AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a motion picture false contour more appropriately than conventional technologies.

SOLUTION: A motion picture false contour reduction circuit 1 comprises a false contour detection section 3-1, an error diffusion processing section 30, and a display control section 5. The false contour detection section 3-1 inputs an input signal for displaying a video image in a target pixel and detects a false contour strength in the target pixel in a case where the video image is displayed in the target pixel, based on the input signal. The error diffusion processing section 30 applies error diffusing process to the input signal in mode corresponding to the false contour strength detected by the false contour detection section 3-1. The display control section 5 controls a display section 2 to display the video image based on the input signal after error diffusing process due to the error diffusion processing section 30.
