PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dot array being optimum for recording and reproducing by suppressing variation of density of material to the minimum in a magnetic metal film forming a magnetic dot. SOLUTION: The patterned medium in which magnetic dots fine-processed after forming of the magnetic metal thin film as a recording layer and arranged in an array state are formed is provided with a magnetic dot formed by fine processing of a solid state magnetic metal thin film. A manufacturing process of the patterned media is provided with a dot forming process in which a dot array of sample magnetic dots having the prescribed size such as single axis particle size decided theoretically from the magnetic metal thin film are formed making a sample medium having the magnetic metal film formed by the initial condition as an object, a demagnetization process in which the dot array is AC-demagnetized, a rate measuring process in which a magnetic section pattern of each sample magnetic dot after AC-demagnetization is observed, and a rate in which they become single domains 42, 44 is measured, and a adjusting process in which a film forming condition is adjusted so that the rate that a single magnetic section is made becomes the prescribed value or more and the film forming condition of a spatter apparatus forming the solid state magnetic metal thin film is decided.
