PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rental box system, being an independent system, which has substantial security control as a whole, and can be casually used. SOLUTION: The rental box system is that the user enters an entrance room 3 from the outside through an entrance door 31, enters a common passage 4 from the entrance room 3 through a passage door 41, enters a box room 5, being a destination, from the common passage 4 through a room door 51 of the box room 5, and then opens or closes the box door of the target rental box. A control section 7 controlling the whole system has an entrance door control means for unlocking an entrance lock 311 and for keeping it locked based on the information from the first IC card reading means and the first personal identification number inputting means, and a passage door control means for unlocking a passage lock 411 and for keeping it locked on the basis of the information from the second IC card reading means and the second personal identification number inputting means.
