<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which can be provided with a plurality of functions by sharing a rotary body. <P>SOLUTION: The portable terminal comprises: the rotary body 4; a rotary encoder 11 for detecting rotational angular velocity of the rotary body; a light source 12; an optical sensor 15 for capturing an image; and a display means for displaying various operating states. The portable terminal is characterized in that it operates as a scroll function for vertically moving a cursor or display character displayed on the display means when the rotary body 4 is rotated and operates as a fingerprint detecting function for capturing an image of fingerprints with which the rotary body 4 is brought into contact by starting the light source 12 and the optical sensor 15 when the rotary body 4 is rotated after selecting a fingerprint detection mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
