PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing member for suppressing deformation of a reel flange due to winding tension when a metallic wire is wound around a reel. SOLUTION: The reinforcing member 20 of the reel for the metallic wire has a cylindrical winding drum part 1 and a pair of flanges 2 integrally provided on right and left ends thereof, and is formed by a cylindrical main body part 5 capable of covering a roughly entire metallic wire winding face of the winding drum part 1, and a pair of flange parts 6 integrally formed at both ends of the main body part 5, having the substantially same outer diameter as the flanges 2 of the reel, and welded to the flanges 2. Stress accompanying welding distortion caused by welding remains as initial stress for pulling the flanges inward. The deformation of the flange of the reel is suppressed by opposing the initial stress to force, by which the flanges are spread in a direction where the flanges are separated from each other with side pressure.
