<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with a user operation for driver installation separate from a print command to a printer when a network printer is used. <P>SOLUTION: Printers are automatically searched for on a network (S1), icons representing printers found are displayed on a display screen (S2), and a printer selection and a print command to the selected printer both by an icon selecting operation are accepted (S3). Whether a driver for the selected printer has been installed or not is next determined (S4), and if it has not been installed (S4: NO), processing for making the printer available including the installation of the driver is automatically started (S5).
