PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile information terminal suppressing consumption of current and quickly carrying out switching of a handover to a base station with high quality. SOLUTION: In the case of carrying out handover, a main control section 14 acquires a current time from a real time clock 19 and the main control section 14 acquires an in-zone cell corresponding to the current time on the basis of handover history data stored in a RAM 16. The main control section 14 uses a code whose number of occurrence times is a prescribed value or over as valid data and utilizes only the code of the valid data for code of a prediction cell. Upon the receipt of notice information, when the code of the prediction cell exists in information of surrounding cells received by the notice information, the main control section 14 monitors only the reception power of the prediction cell. When the reception power of a base station in the prediction cell is greater than the reception power of the base station in the in-zone cell, the main control section 14 transmits a request of handover to the base station of the in-zone cell.
