PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently manufacturing an aqueous titanium tetrachloride solution of high purity and stable quality on an industrial scale by solving the problems of generation of hydrochloric acid gas and precipitation of solid matter by heat generation in manufacture of an aqueous titanium tetrachloride solution. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the aqueous titanium tetrachloride solution includes a contact step of mixing titanium tetrachloride and an organic solvent which is not reactive but compatible with the titanium tetrachloride and incompatible with water and bringing the resulting solution of the titanium tetrachloride in the organic solvent into contact with water.
