<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field sequential liquid crystal display which has a simple structure, shows high color purity and color displays, and having high luminance and high precision. <P>SOLUTION: The field sequential liquid crystal display has a liquid crystal panel 10, formed by disposing a liquid crystal layer 40 between a pair of substrates 11, 31 wherein the liquid crystal layer 40 has a homogeneous alignment and birefringent mode liquid crystal, and is equipped with phase compensating plates 51, 52 disposed outside the substrates 11, 31 of the liquid crystal panel 10 and polarizing plates 61, 62 disposed farther outside of the phase compensating plates 51, 52. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
