PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a letters and postcards treatment apparatus enabling a sorting treatment aligning the sizes of letters and postcards for each delivery destination by supplying twice or more letters and postcards having a plurality of sizes. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a means for giving individual identification data to letters and postcards supplied by a supply means (2) for supplying letters and postcards one by one to the apparatus, a read-out means (3) for reading out delivery classification information of letters and postcards, an individual identification data printing means (7) for printing the individual identification data, an individual identification data read-out means (5) for reading out the individual identification data, a sizer (4) for measuring the sizes of letters and postcards, and a sorting slot (8) for sorting out letters and postcards. At the time of a first supply, this apparatus integrally memorizes the size information and the individual identification data produced by the sizer (4), and at the time of a second supply, confirms whether or not the measured size information is the same as that of the first supply and in the case of the same information, letters and postcards are sorted out to the sorting slot (8) from the size standard to be accumulated.
