PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for kernel mode shimming. SOLUTION: To facilitate the kernel mode shimming and reuse of SHIM, it is necessary for the SHIM to identify a particular driver call and to maintain linkage information specific to the driver by retrieving and maintaining context information. This invention implements the above by using intermediate structure and a content component between a client or a shared SHIM common to the driver call and providing the context information to the SHIM.
