PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate transfer body having satisfactorily improved uniformity of resistance in an intermediate transfer body of an image forming apparatus, to provide a method for manufacturing the body, and to provide an image forming apparatus having improved image quality by the above intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: The intermediate transfer body in an intermediate transfer apparatus of an image forming apparatus contains carbon black, a water-soluble resin having 3,000 to 30,000 weight average molecular weight, and a binder resin; and the transfer body contains the carbon black by 0.1 to 29wt.%. The carbon black has 100 to 400 nm average particle diameter and contains≤85% by weight distribution of carbon black having≤200 nm particle diameter and substantially no particles over≥800 nm particle diameter. When the carbon black is diluted with N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, to obtain 0.003wt.% carbon black concentration, the zeta potential is -50 to -10 mV . COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
