PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hematite for an adsorption removal material with non-toxicity, excellent adsorption characteristic and small deviation of quality, capable of being industrially produced, an adsorption removal material and an adsorption removal method for a harmful substance. SOLUTION: The present invention accomplishing the above object is hematite for the adsorption removal material characterized in that a specific surface area is 20 m<SP>2</SP>/g or more and the adsorption removal material comprising hematite. The adsorption removal material comprises a substance preferably containing 10 mass% or more of hematite.
