<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably set the cranking torque at the starting of an internal combustion engine in a hybrid vehicle equipped with the internal combustion engine and a motor for driving. <P>SOLUTION: Maximum electric power Wb, which a battery 30 can output to the full using a temperature Tb of the battery 30, is obtained (step S), while an energy loss Ws at the cranking is obtained (step S). From both, cranking torque Tg at the starting of the engine 10 is calculated as Equation (3) Tg=(Wb-Ws)/(2πNg/60) (where Ng is a rotational speed of an output shaft 12 of the engine 10 at the cranking).
