The base plate (3) for a snowboard or ski (1) has a rear base plate (5) for a rear or heel boot retainer (33) movable in a flat longitudinal guide (34). A front base plate (4) carries a front boot retainer and is adjustable (28,38) with respect to the rear plate. There are further adjusters (38,31) with which the rear retainer is adjustable longitudinally.
