<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find a component promoting the production of β-endorphin and provide a β-endorphin production promoting agent applicable to various cutaneous symptoms. <P>SOLUTION: One or more extracts of Terminalia sericea, Hypericum perforatum, Calendula officinalis and giant kelp is used as the β-endorphin production promoting agent exhibiting excellent effect. The obtained β-endorphin production promoting agent gives relaxing effect to the skin and prevents and ameliorates the stress-induced cutaneous symptoms by promoting the production of β-endorphin in the skin. Especially, it is effective for preventing and ameliorating cutaneous symptoms based on cell activating action and skin bleaching action.
