PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem type color image forming apparatus in which a drive element with a large diameter and ribs of multi-stages formed in the circumferential direction is used, the cycle of the speed change of each photoreceptor is set to 1/integer of time needed to move between an exposure position and a transfer position, the amplitudes of the speed changes are almost made coincident, and accordingly color slippage is minimized. SOLUTION: In the tandem type color image forming apparatus in which each photoreceptor 40 is integrally driven with the drive transmission element 61 that has the ribs 64 and the ribs 65 of multi-stages formed in the circumferential direction of the photoreceptor 40, the ribbed drive transmission element 61 includes the outermost circumferential ribs 64 that have equal intervals. When an angle between the outermost circumferential ribs 64 isαand an angle between exposure and transfer on the photoreceptor 40 isβ,α≈n×β(n is an integer) is satisfied.
