PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for setting an optimum photographing mode automatically and changing it according to the number of objects. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has an imaging means for imaging an object by pushing a release button. The imaging apparatus includes a number-of-object specifying means for specifying the number of objects when the release button is pushed half, an output size determining means for determining the output size based on the number of objects specified by the number-of-object specifying means, and an imaging mode determining means for determining the imaging mode based on the output size determined by the output size determining means.
