PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which prevents image defects liable to occur due to lowering of the chargeability of the electrophotographic photoreceptor, in high-speed copying and in a low temperature and low humidity environment and periodic image defects such as black spots and voids in transfer, and to provide a process cartridge using the electrophotographic photoreceptor, an image forming method and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor contains an oxy-titanyl phthalocyanine pigment having a maximum peak at a Bragg angle 2θ(±0.2°) of 27.3°in an X-ray diffraction spectrum with a CuKαcharacteristic X-ray (of 0.1541 nm wavelength) and a mixed compound having a chemical structure of the formula (1): X-(CTM group)n-Y, wherein the composition ratio of a compound as the largest component of the mixed compound having an n-based distribution is represented by x and that of a compound as the second largest component by y, x+y equals≤99%.
