<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining an alkaline aqueous solution of aromatic dihydroxy compounds of high purity by inexpensively disposing a large amount of waste aromatic polycarbonates (for example, discarded aromatic polycarbonate products such as a CD, a CD-ROM or a DVD) . <P>SOLUTION: The method for obtaining the alkaline aqueous solution of purified aromatic dihydroxy compounds comprises dissolving the waste aromatic polycarbonate resins in an organic solvent and decomposing the polycarbonate resins in the organic solvent solution in the presence of an aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxides, where the alkaline aqueous solution after decomposition is contacted with activated carbon. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
