PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-noise projection type display apparatus which is improved in cooling capacity. SOLUTION: The projection type display apparatus 1 is provided with an optical system unit 2 having a light source and a light valve, a cooling means for cooling the optical system unit 2 and an armor cabinet 4 incorporating the optical system unit 2 and the cooling means. The cooling means is provided with a sirocco fan 3, a duct 5 for guiding cooling air blown from the sirocco fan 3 at least to the light valve and the light source 21, and an airflow control means 6 arranged in the duct 5. With the reduction of the output of the light from the light source 21, the air amount sent from the sirocco fan 3 to the light source is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
