PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environment-friendly antimicrobial paperboard being safe to human bodies and having an excellent antimicrobial property. SOLUTION: The antimicrobial paperboard is obtained by applying an antimicrobial coating liquid in which a formulation ratio (mass ratio) of an antimicrobial agent to a binder is (1:9) to (4:6) in an amount of 0.1-3.0 g/m<SP>2</SP>to the rear surface of the paperboard obtained by combining two or more paper layers by using a coating apparatus for applying a surface-treating agent to a base paper.
