PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tearing strip capable of being smoothly cut at a paper material without producing peeling of its surface layer while improving its design characteristic and further capable of assuring a strength of the paper material. SOLUTION: This tearing strip 11 of paper material is made so that two cutting rows 12 having many interrupted slits 13 are arranged side by side and each of the slits 13 is extended from an inward part 14 to an outward side 15. An inclination angleαof the inward part 14 against the outward side 15 of each of the slits 13 is set low at a beginning portion and a terminal portion of each of the cutting rows 12. At an intermediate portion, an inclination angleβof the inward part 14 is set large. In addition, a length L of the outward side 15 is set longer than a length S of the outward side 15 at both the beginning portion and the intermediate portion. Further, its cutting end is provided with a large holding part 16. At the beginning end and the terminal end of each of the cutting rows 12, the connecting part between the front and rear slits 13 becomes short, so that the paper material can be cut smooth and at the intermediate portion, the connecting part between the front and rear slits 13 becomes elongated, so that the strength of the paper material is assured.
