PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CMOS image sensor which eliminates asymmetry of characteristics of each pixel line and eliminates such a phenomenon that brightness changes in each pixel line and hence pixel lines look horizontal stripes on a screen, even in the case that interconnections are microfabricated by thinning the width, thickness, etc. SOLUTION: A plurality of pixels 32a, 32b, 33, and 34 are arranged two-dimensionally in the horizontal and vertical directions at predetermined pitches, and the four pixels, that is, each two adjacent pixels in the horizontal pixel lines 36a and 36b which are adjacent in the vertical direction, are so arranged as to correspond to green, red, and blue color filters to construct a color unit cell CCe. The pixels 32a and 32b corresponding to the green color filters of the color unit cell CCe are arranged in the odd numbered pixel line 36a and the even-numbered pixel line 36b, respectively, and the pixel 33 corresponding to the red color filter and the pixel 34 corresponding to the blue color filter are arranged in different pixel lines. Patterns of the pixels 32a and 32b corresponding to the green color filters of the color unit cell CCe are formed nearly in the same manner in terms of layout with respect to an electric charge detecting section 12 for detecting electric charges of each pixel.
