PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the reliability of a low cost disk array by emulating an ATA drive in order to use it equally with an FC drive. SOLUTION: This disk array system is provided with a storage device in which a logical unit is logically set, a host which requests the input/output of data stored in the storage device and a controller connected to the host which requests the input/output of the data, which inputs/outputs the data from the storage device in response to a request from the host. The storage device is provided with a plurality of disk devices having a first interface, an interface converting part which converts a signal by a first interface matched with the disk device and a signal by a second interface matched with the controller. The interface converting part is provided with a response time monitoring part which monitors a time until a response from the disk device to the data input/output request is received and a notification issuing part which issues notification related with the operating state of the disk device to the controller based on the monitored response time.
