<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injector of an internal combustion engine for always supplying a proper quantity of fuel to a combustion chamber without sticking and staying the fuel in a throttle valve even when suddenly closing the throttle valve in a structure for arranging fuel injection valves on the upstream and the downstream sides of the throttle valve. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel injector includes means 101, 102 and 105 for determining respective injection quantities of the upstream and downstream side fuel injection valves on the basis of a plurality of parameters including throttle opening [theta]TH and an engine speed NE, a means 5 for detecting a rate of change -[theta]TH in the valve closing direction of the throttle opening, a means 104a for stopping fuel injection by the upstream side fuel injection valve when the rate of change -[theta]TH is large and a means 104b for reducing the injection quantity from the downstream side fuel injection valve when stopping the fuel injection of the upstream side injection valve. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO.
