PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging system which changes an amount of light itself without using a mechanical diaphragm or an ND filter of a plurality of densities. SOLUTION: The imaging system includes a photoelectric conversion means having a plurality of photodetecting areas, and a photoelectric conversion element having a plurality of units with an optical member for reducing the amount of the transmitted light arranged at least in the part of the photodetecting areas. The imaging system switches a method of adding the photoelectric conversion outputs of each of the plurality of photodetecting areas in the units in response to the output of the photoelectric conversion element.
