The coolant consists of a liquid medium containing at least one additive that is soluble in the medium that coats the surfaces of the coolant circuit that come into contact with the coolant with an inorganic or organic protective layer, whereby the additive exerts a passivation effect on the surface, has low conductivity and low optical absorption. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating a laser arrangement with at least one array of light emitting diodes.
