It is possible to effectively reduce an amount of image data captured by using a wide-angle lens such as a fish-eye lens. An image data compression method using the wide-angle lens (9) includes: a step(ST2) for replacing the pixel data in a rectangular image including a circular image captured by the wide-angle lens (9) so as to reduce the number of colors in a plurality of pixel data in other than a predetermined circular range; and a step (ST4) for compressing the image data on the rectangular image after the replacement process.
