PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal electrode structure which prevents flickering of dielectric barrier discharge of a type that a main discharge is generated between an internal electrode and an external electrode. SOLUTION: A light source device has a first electrode located at the end inside a hermetic vessel and a second electrode located outside the hermetic vessel to excite the hermetic vessel in which a discharge medium is sealed. A condition that a tip shape of the first electrode is a curved surface can control discharge motion on the first electrode, and prevents flickering. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
