PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new color display system different from the color display system provided conventionally. SOLUTION: The color display forms one pixel from a plurality of sub-pixels and is constructed by arranging a plurality of pixels. Then, each sub-pixel is provided with (a) organic EL elements 1R, 1G, 1B which at least emit light of a wavelength that the sub-pixel emits, and (b) two-dimensional photonics crystal layers 2R, 2G, 2B for the wavelength emitted by the sub-pixel which are provided on the light extraction side than the organic EL elements 1R, 1G, 1B.
