The device has a pole pliers (1) that contacts a pole pin (2) at a motor vehicle battery (3). A pole shoe (4) is electrically contacted and removably attached to a contacting region (8) of the pole pin. The pliers has shanks (5) at the sides of gripping areas (7) that are opposite to each other and in arc-shape for contacting the outer contour of pole pin at the contacting region. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring quiescent current of a motor vehicle battery.
