PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head rest for a vehicle capable of positively protecting the head and the neck of an occupant while having such a simple structure that it can be simply and auxiliarily mounted to various kinds of seat backs. SOLUTION: When the head of the occupant M is rapidly rearwardly moved as reaction when the vehicle receives a rear-end collision, a skin layer pad 3B constituted by a low impact resilience pad material softly receives the head of the occupant, and a core pad 3C constituted of a high impact resilience pad material suppresses the sink of the head of the occupant M and rebounds/moves frontward the head of the occupant M.
