PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine capable of shortening the time to sense a weight of the wash. SOLUTION: The washing machine provides a motor 10 to turn the washing tub, a voltage PWM inverter 9 to control the motor 10, an angle detector 12 to detect the turning angle of the washing tub, an angular speed detector 13 to detect the angular speed of the washing tub, a ROM 6 to save the relationship between time required to turn the washing tub in a specified angle by changing the angular speed of the washing tub and weight of washes, a first cloth amount sensor 16 to sense the first weight of wash by calculating the turning time of the washing tub only in a specified angle by changing the angular speed of the washing tub and a second cloth amount sensor 17 to sense the second weight of the wash by detecting inertia moment of the washing tub when it is turning beyond the specified angular speed. The first cloth amount sensor 16 has a precision when the weight of wash is below the specified cloth amount to detect the first cloth amount of wash before the second cloth amount sensor 17 can detect the cloth amount.
