PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an odor emission control agent and method which can persistently suppress the emission of sulfur-containing odor substances such as hydrogen sulfide and methylmercaptan from sludge and sludge dehydrated cake, for example, from sewage disposal plants or waste water treatment plants. SOLUTION: This odor emission control agent for suppressing the emission of odor for sludge or sludge dehydrated cake comprises, as an active ingredient, at least one compound selected from benzoic acid, phthalic anhydride, terephthalic acid and the like.
