<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with less machine down time and of high productivity by simultaneously reading a reference pattern image for misregistration detection and/or a reference pattern image for density error detection by using a plurality of sensors and attaining quick and accurate detection. <P>SOLUTION: In the color image forming apparatus constituted of an image forming engine for forming a toner image corresponding to an image data signal, a moving body to which the toner images are multiple-transferred, a reference pattern image control part for forming the reference pattern image for misregistration detection and/or the reference pattern image for density error detection on the moving body, the plurality of sensors arranged in a direction orthogonal to the advancing direction of the moving body, and a detection information extracting part for detecting the misregistration information and/or the density error information, when a 1st detection mode is selected, only the misregistration information is detected, and when the 2nd detection mode is selected, the misregistration information and the density error information are simultaneously detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
