PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable nonwoven fabric which can be produced from fibers having good fiber productivity and openability also by a spun bond method, slightly causes shrinkage and the like, when subjected to a thermal adhesion treatment, can stably, easily and thermally be treated, and has both good heat sealability and flexibility, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: This nonwoven fabric comprising polylactic acid-based polymer fibers and biodegradable aliphatic-aromatic copolyester fibers which are produced by the splitting of splittable conjugate fibers comprising the polylactic acid-based polymer and the biodegradable aliphatic-aromatic copolyester, wherein the composing fibers are interlaced in three-dimensionally, is characterized in that the cross section of each splittable conjugate fiber is a multi-lobar cross section comprising a core portion and lobar portions joined to the outer periphery of the core portion, and the biodegradable aliphatic-aromatic copolyester and the polylactic acid-based polymer are disposed in the core portion and the lobar portions, respectively.
