<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which duplicates a printed matter of the state of a postscript part being added without deteriorating an original image part. <P>SOLUTION: A first operating method includes steps of: transferring a photographed image signal from an image signal processing unit 104 to a compression processing unit 106 (S9); and recording the compressed image data by a recorder 107 (S10). The recorded image data is printed by a printer 109. A second operating method includes steps of: photographing the hand-written printed matter with a character, a graphic image, etc: and transferring the obtained image signal to a hand-written part extracting unit 110 (S3). The original image combined with the hand-written part is called from the recorder 107 (S4), decompressed, and sent to an image combining unit 111 (S5). The original image signal and the image signal of the hand-written part are combined (S6), and the combined image signal is compressed and recorded in the recorder 107 (S8).
