<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-color image forming apparatus which enables a worker to load/unload cartridges with his or her single hand with minimum gaps between cartridges. <P>SOLUTION: The multi-color image forming apparatus is provided with at least a plurality of image carrier units provided with rotatably supported image carriers and a transfer material carrying unit having an endless belt arranged so as to come into contact with all the image carriers. In this multi-color image forming apparatus, the transfer material carrying unit can take a first state at the time of transferring images on the image carriers to a transfer material carried on the transfer material carrier and a second state such that the transfer material carrying unit recedes from the image carrier units more than the first state, and a moving means comprising at least an operation part, an acting part which operates in contact with the image carrier units, and a guide part for movement of the image carrier units is provided in order to selectively move the image carrier units to a space formed in an apparatus main body after entry to the second state of the transfer material carrier unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
