PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pore-forming agent for a porous ceramic, which enables production of the porous ceramic which has high porosity and can be suitably used as a high-performance filter, such as a filter for catching exhaust gas particulates emitted from a diesel car (a diesel particulate filter), a lightweight earthenware, etc., without generating cracks, even when used in a large amount. SOLUTION: The pore-forming agent for the porous ceramic comprises a resin particle, at least a part of which produces gaps by chemical reaction and/or change of state at≤250°C.
