PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel power transmission apparatus which can give a powerful driving force over the wide range of the operating stroke and also can be compactly configured with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The power transmission apparatus 10 comprises a first gear 11 and a second gear 12 which engage with each other, a first guide member 14 for ratably supporting the first gear, and a second guide member 15 for ratably supporting the second gear. At least one of the first gear and the second gear has a non-circular pitch line. The first guide member and the second guide member are mutually and directly or indirectly guided in the guiding direction 10G connecting the rotation axis 11A of the first gear and the rotation axis 12A of the second gear.
