PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frameless rotary machine in which the cross-sectional shape of a stator core can be freely designed while avoiding the imbalance of a magnetic circuit. SOLUTION: A plurality of slit parts 14a-14d with a prescribed depth are formed from the outer periphery of the stator core 10 having a non-circular cross-section to the axial center direction. The depth of the slit part is set up to a place where it reaches the outline (the inscribed circle 15) of a concentric circular region viewed as a part which functions as the magnetic circuit on the stator side. The outside part of the cross-sectional shape of the stator core from the outline (the inscribed circle 15) of the concentric circular region viewed as the part which functions as the magnetic circuit on the stator side is eliminated from the magnetic circuit by magnetic barrier effects of the slit parts 14a-14d.
