PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording/reproducing device and an optical information recording/reproducing method in which stable seek and track take-in can be performed by conducting direction discrimination in an optical disk incapable of detecting modulation signals of summation signals. SOLUTION: An optical disk 1 that has a land/groove structure and has a plurality of information tracks in which grooves are wobbled with a prescribed frequency is irradiated with an optical spot. The optical spot is moved along the radial direction of the optical disk 1 by a moving means 2 and the reflected light beams of the optical spot are received to generate a push-pull signal which indicates a relative position between the optical spot and an information track. On-track/off-track signals are generated to discriminate the on-track/off-track condition of the optical spot based on the wobble frequency signal components superimposed on the push-pull signal obtained during the movement of the optical spot by the moving means 2.
